Faustino V, Rioja Reserva 2016

Clean, bright with medium-deep ruby with garnet hues. Full of ripe fruits, hints of sweet spice, clove, cinnamon and cedar. Balanced with good acidity, round tannin and elegance on the palate. Some 92% Tempranillo with 9% Mazuelo and 16 months in American oak. MIld ABV 13,5%. Reflecting the nose, the palate is balsamic, oak-driven with a touch of smoke, cigar ash, vanilla and cinnamon. There are also hints of leather and ripe fruit that are developing unusual meaty aromas of smoky bacon. A decent 10+ seconds fruit length that is polished and easy to drink, which distinguished itself from it senior Gran Reserva siblings. The score is as high though, such as JS93.

This bottle won good and prestigious shows such as Gold Medal, Berlin 2017; Gold Medal Bacchus 2016; Silver, Decanter 2016.
