Chateau Real 2015, Haut Medoc

Medium ruby with a medium rim. Lively and open red currant fruit, with a familiar rose petal nose. Some elegance. The palate is red curranty, sweetish, round, ripe, smooth, broad and not extracted at all. The red fruit but turns darker and denser with the elapse of 30 minutes in the glass, then there is good back-up acidity, although it is straightforward enough with reasonable complexity. There is also some substance in the palate, leading to a charred and tarry finish. To bring out its best, open the bottles an hour or two, and appreciate it slowly. Can go with some Cantonese dishes.

This good vintage 2015 is as suppressed as 2010, about which Decanter tasters commented well and award it some 86 points. It may be worked on by the same winemakers of Chateau Tronquoy Lalande and Chateau Bel Orme Lalande. 2/3 areCabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with the remaining Merlot. There is partial oak fermentation; oak storage is eight months in French oak(partially new), hence the style.
